Rupert's Fairy Cycle is a Alfred Bestall story.

The opening episode has Nutwood in the grip of winter and Rupert and his chums writing their present wish lists to Santa Claus.  It all bodes well for a traditional Christmas adventure.

  • The story first appeared in black and white in the Express in December 1944, and was then later reprinted in full colour in the Rupert Annual for 1945.
  • The magic Fairy Cycle makes Rupert´s dreams come true, and he eventually ends up in China and has to return to Nutwood by the Mandarin´s iconic lift through the centre of the earth.
  • The newspaper story originally had 60 single panel episodes. In the reprint that started on Wednesday 20th december 2017, only 48 (24 x 2) of the Original panels were used.
